The Iowa Hawkeyes close out the regular season at home against Western Michigan. With a victory the Hawkeyes can lock up a bowl bid in a season that began with a 2-4 record. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says they have an opportunity to finish the year on a real positive note, and he says he looks at it as an even game. Ferentz says they can improve in all areas of the game right now.

Ferentz says right now he is not thinking about where the Hawks may go for a bowl game. Ferentz says all he knows is they can finish with 7 wins and let the rest of it play out. He says if they don’t win, it will be disappointing, and if they win the bowl stuff will work itself out.

Western Michigan is 3-7 but Ferentz says Kinnick Stadium won’t intimidate the Broncos. He says they finished up the year last year with an 8 point loss at Florida State and won on the road at Virginia.

Iowa State looks for three in a row when the Cyclones visit fourth ranked Kansas in their season finale.  Iowa State coach Gene Chizik says it’s a great way to finish out the season, going against one of the best teams in the country to see how far they have come, and he says the guys are really excited.

Chizik says it would be a huge win for the program, and a phenomenal ending for a year that is not exactly what they wanted and would show the growth from where they started to where they ended. Chizik says the Cyclones need to make the Kansas high powered offense drive the ball to score points.

He says if they give up big plays, they have now chance. Chizik says they need to get some turnovers, but Kansas does not give up many.
