Iowa basketball team off to 3-0 start

November 19, 2007 By admin

The Iowa basketball team is 3-0. Justin Johnson had 19 points as the Hawks beat Florida Gulf Coast 62-49 in Iowa City. The Hawks survived a sluggish start that saw Florida Gulf Coast jump to an early lead. Iowa coach Todd Lickliter says it’s great to watch the team stay consistent throughout the game. He was who was happy with the Hawks’ rebounding. Iowa won the battle on the boards 38-28.

Lickliter says if you decide you’re going to maintain position and not let your guy get to the ball, that’s a choice, and you’re going to get the rebounds. Lickliter says if they can also defend with purpose, and not give up open lanes, then you can stop the other team. The Hawkeyes entertain Maryland-Eastern shore on Tuesday.
