The Iowa Hawkeyes found their shooting touch in the second half and pulled away from Maryland-Eastern Shore. After making just 5 of 17 shots in the opening half the Hawks connected on 52 percent in the second half in a 65-48 victory. Iowa coach Todd Lickliter says defense made up for cold shooting, and he says that shows character.

Lickliter says you can be consistent on the defensive end, as some nights the offensive shots aren’t falling, and you can’t let that impact your defense. Lickliter says the Hawks were too impatient on offense in the opening half.

He says they played low percentage basketball and were shooting shots early and were anxious. "You can’t hurry up and win basketball games," Lickliter says. Iowa had to fight hard to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Iowa guard Dan Bohall, who finished with ten points and five assists, says there are no easy games, and they were able to stick to it and fight it out. The number five he was referring to was Maryland-Eastern Shore guard Ed Tyson, who finished with a game high 32 points.
