Mason City middle school students in trouble over bullying video

November 21, 2007 By admin

Eight middle school students in Mason City have been disciplined after video of an alleged bullying incident shows up on the internet. Mason City school officials have punished the eight boys who were shown in the video taking turns pushing and pulling a younger classmate, forcing him to the ground several times during an incident last Wednesday at the end of the school day.

The bullying incident was recorded and later posted on one of the student’s Myspace pages. Mason City Schools Superintendent Keith Sersland says they’ve taken action against the students following the district’s policies regarding such incidents, but specifics were not available.

Mason City police say they are also looking into possibly filing criminal charges in the case.
