UNI travels to Ames to start state basketball series

November 27, 2007 By admin

Iowa State and UNI meet for the 43rd time tonight in Ames. The Cyclones are 2-2 after losing at home last week to Minnesota. ISU coach Greg McDermott says they’re making progress and he sees it daily in practice and hopes that leads to wins.

McDermott says as the Cyclones get healthier they will make more progress, he says as long as they keep moving forward, that’s all they can ask. Sophomore forward Wesley Johnson could see his first action of the season, tonight. He has been out with a foot injury. McDermott says Johnson’s presence should help stabilized the rotation.

McDermott says some guys are playing better defense than others, some are better offensively, and it’s a matter of trying to find the right mix. Iowa State leads the all-time series 34-8. The Panthers won last year’s game in Cedar Falls and will be looking for their first win in Hilton Coliseum since 1997.
