Decorah schools locked down Wednesday

November 29, 2007 By admin

Classes should be getting underway as normal today in Decorah after the schools had to be locked down on Wednesday afternoon. The Winneshiek County Sheriff says just before noon, they learned 16-year-old Cale Woods, a student at Decorah High School, was having a dispute with his mother at his home and left the house carrying a nine-millimeter handgun.

It wasn’t known where he was going. Woods was found about 45 minutes later and was taken into custody without incident. He was taken to a hospital emergency room for evaluation. School officials say the lockdown was put in place as a precaution and covered all buildings in the district.
