Drake guard Young is MVC Player of the Week

December 11, 2007 By admin

Drake sophomore guard Josh Young has been named the Missouri Valley Conference player of the week. Young averaged 20 points in the Bulldog victories last week, including a 23 point effort in a 79-44 win over Iowa State.

Drake coach Keno Davis says he can’t say enough about how Young came in as a freshman and player in the Valley. Davis says after the standout freshman season Young worked even harder to make himself a better player.

Davis says he isn’t surprised at all about the success Young has had this year, because his work has made him more than a one dimensional player. At 8-1, the Bulldogs are off to their best start in 28 years. They return to action Friday at Iowa.
