Two teens die in accident near Highview

December 11, 2007 By admin

Two teenagers were killed, two injured, when a car collided with a semi-truck last night near Highview in Hamilton County. The Iowa State Patrol identified the fatalities as that of the driver of the 1993 Buick, 16-year-old Richard Goettsch of Webster City and one of his passengers, 17-year-old Michael Carpenter also of Webster City.

The injured passengers identified in the accident last night were 15-year-old Jamie Johnson of Webster City and 16-year-old Nevin Johnson of Duncombe. Johnson was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames for treatment while Capsel was taken to Hamilton Hospital in Webster City.

According to the State Patrol, Goettsch was heading westbound when he apparently failed to stop for a stop sign and struck the side of a southbound semi trailer driven by 36-year-old Tom Fredericksen of Fort Dodge. The Goettsch car then came to rest in the east ditch totally engulfed in flames. Fredericksen escaped injury in the accident.
