One Republican presidential candidate has offered an apology to another over a comment about Mormonism.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee was being asked by a New York Times reporter about Mormonism. At one point Huckabee questioned whether Mormons believe Jesus and Satan are brothers.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is a Mormon, and during an interview on MSNBC yesterday Romney called it "unAmerican" to question his faith in that way.

At the end of The Des Moines Register’s candidate debate yesterday afternoon on Iowa Public Television, Huckabee offered this as his own personal New Year’s Resolution."I’m going to be a lot more careful about everything I say because I find that it gets amplified to a new level," Huckabee said.

After the debate, Huckabee approached Romney and personally apologized for his remark.

A spokesperson for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says Mormons believe, as Christians do, that Satan is a fallen angel.
