Volleyball is back at Iowa Games

December 17, 2007 By admin

The newest sport to be added to the winter Iowa Games is actually an old one. Executive director Jim Halihan says volleyball returns for the weekend of January 25th through the 27th in Dubuque. It will be a USA Volleyball sanctioned event.

Hallihan says they had volleyball seven or eight years ago, but didn’t have great facility to play it in. Now he says they have a great facility with several gyms and he is hoping to get 25 or 30 teams in the first year.

Halihan says club team volleyball is increasing in popularity. The bulk of the winter games will be in Dubuque but there will be competition at several sites over four weekends beginning with wrestling in Perry on January 20th.
