Electrolux will lay off 150 in Webster City

December 19, 2007 By admin

Electrolux Home Products plans to lay off up to 150 workers in Webster City on January 2nd. The reason behind this is due to anticipated market demand and to balance inventory, sales and production.

Electrolux corporate communications official Tony Evans stated that these are not permanent layoffs. The local Electrolux firm anticipates that employees will have the opportunity for recall as market conditions and seasonal production needs increase at the firm.

It was nearly two years ago in February of 2006 that Electrolux planned to take 700 jobs from the Webster City plant to a facility in Juarez, Mexico, to make the line of washers and dryers. No definite date has been set as to when the Mexican plant would start production.
