Upper Iowa hosts division two national tournament

December 26, 2007 By admin

Upper Iowa Wrestling coach Heath Grimm wants his team to be successful on the mat at the division two national tournament but he also wants the tournament itself to be a success. The University will host the national meet at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids on March 14th and 15th.

Grimm says he feels more pressure about that as you feel more pressure to have the wrestlers and fans have a great experience. Grimm says they can control the wrestling and trying to have his team do well, but running the national tournament is something different.

Grimm says they are hoping the event will draw large crowds, and hope they can break the all-time attendance record set last year in Kearney, Nebraska. Grimm says while many wrestling fans are familiar with competition at the division one and division three levels, this will be their first exposure to the division two tournament. Upper Iowa is ranked sixth in division two.
