Want to get healthy in 2008? Exercise more!

January 1, 2008 By admin

Get more exercise is one piece of advice you’ll hear often if you’re looking to feel better in the new year. Chuck Reed of the Iowa Chapter of the American Cancer Society says they have something to help you follow that advice.

Reed says if you’ve made the New Year’s resolution to lose weight or get more exercise, you can go the society’s website at cancer.org, there is the "Get Active Challenge" that can help you, and you can challenge your friends. Reed says the challenge helps you see your progress by keeping track.

Reed says, "You put it down, and you see it, and you know ‘I did a 30 minute walk on Tuesday and but it’s Saturday and I haven’t done anything.’ And if you look at it, it kind of makes you feel guilty that you haven’t gotten that exercise." Reed has used the challenge.

Reed says they did the challenge in their office and he knows what it’s like if you don’t do your exercise. He says the challenge pushes you along a little bit to get the healthy lifestyle started. Reed says living a healthier lifestyle can help you fight cancer and many other diseases.
