The Drake Bulldogs take a 10-1 mark into a matchup at home against Missouri Valley Conference preseason favorite Southern Illinois. The Bulldogs opened league play with a victory at Wichita State and now get set to face a team that under coach Chris Lowery is one of the most physical in the country.

Drake coach Keno Davis says they pride themselves on fouling and Lowery will be upset if they don’t foul enough in practice. Davis says they go into the game playing physical and will adjust if the officials are calling fouls. He says it’s as physical as any team in the country and they can disrupt you.

Davis says the Bulldogs need to play their style. He says you can spend so much time worrying about changing what you do or what the other team does that you worry about it. He says they have to focus on what they do best, focus on their offense and defense, and rebounding.

Davis says the Bulldogs cannot afford to get in a fouling contest. He says they can play up-tempo, and slow down, but can’t go out and foul like Southern Illinois can do.
