Drake hosts Indiana State in a battle of unbeatens in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Bulldogs are 12-1 overall after a 71-68 victory at Evansville on Sunday. Drake’s Keno Davis says they showed the depth of their team as some of their best shooters had off nights, but they have more than just a couple of players. Davis says they are 8 or 10 deep, and that has shown early.

Davis is in his first season as head coach as is Indiana State’s Kevin McKenna who had been an assistant coach at Creighton. Davis says they’ve changed a few things at Drake, but not alot, and he says you;ll see that Indiana State does a few things they do at Creighton.

It is a matchup of teams that have been more accustomed to being at the bottom of the league standings. McKena says time will tell if his team and Drake will end up at the top, or if the preseason favorites will play out. He says Drake is playing very well early on with a good brand of basketball that is hard to adjust to, and his team has gone on the road and won a couple of games.

McKenna expects both teams to be ready to play, as he says Drake has played with a lot of high energy and had a lot of success. He says he expects his team to be ready and excited about playing a real good team in a good environment.
