Waterloo man faces charges after trying to teach dad lesson

January 11, 2008 By admin

A Waterloo man is facing multiple charges following an unusual incident involving his elderly father. Robert Broderson apparently doesn’t believe that his 98-year-old dad knows how to handle his money. Wednesday night, Broderson and his father allegedly argued about the dad’s retirement and stock funds. What happened next landed Broderson in jail.

According to court records, the angry 53-year-old man set fire to two 10-dollar bills and quickly extinguished them. He allegedly burned the cash to show his dad how he wastes money. The court documents state that Broderson doesn’t believe money means anything to his father.

Broderson is charged with reckless use of fire, second-degree harassment, interference, and marijuana possession.
