Conference focuses on women in agriculture

January 15, 2008 By admin

The fourth annual "Women in Denim" conference is this weekend in Storm Lake. Barb Detterman is one of the organizers of the event. Detterman says the conference is an opportunity for women involved in agriculture to get together and there are 35 sessions that range from decorating your home to grain marketing.

Detterman says the conference helps women involved in agriculture discuss some of the common issues they have and some of the solutions that’re available. She says there’s a lot of sessions on agricultural business, but also sessions on dealing with family relationships, making your home a better place to live, and health issues.

Detterman says it’s a broad ranging conference where women can get together learn about these issues. Detterman says the conference isn’t just for those who climb on the tractor. Detterman says you don’t have to be a farmer to be involved in agribusiness, as they have lots of women at the conference that are involved in agribusiness, but have never been on a farm. You can find out more about the conference on the Women in Denim website , or by calling 800-242-5022.
