Purdue used a 12-0 run midway through the second half to take the lead for good in a 67-62 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes last night in Iowa City. Three point shooting was a big factor in the outcome. The Boilermakers connected on 11 of 24 from behind the arc while the Hawks were only five of 16.

Iowa coach Todd Lickliter says one of the reasons you are a better shooting team is that you shoot shots you can make and then he says you can pass and catch the ball. Lickliter says Purdue’s aggressiveness took them out of their offense.

Lickliter says the Hawks committed too many turnovers during Purdue’s decisive run. He says if they handle the ball, they were in the free throw bonus and could force a foul. But he says with the turnovers they had, there was no way to do anything.

Iowa falls to 1-4 in the Big Ten and 8-10 overall.
