UNI coach hopes conference win boosts confidence of team

January 21, 2008 By admin

UNI coach Ben Jacobsen hopes Sunday’s win over Missouri State will give his team confidence heading out on the road this week. The Panthers shot better than 57 percent from the field in a 70-55 victory over the Bears in which they snapped a four-game losing streak at home.

Jacobsen says he liked the way the team looked as they were shooting, saying they looked confident, and were making the extra pass they needed. Jacobsen says the Panthers did a much better job of moving the ball and pushing the tempo.

He says the time they’ve devoted to the offense in practice has given them some more confidence. UNI is 3-4 in the Valley and 11-7 overall. The Panthers return to action Wednesday night at Wichita State.
