The Drake Bulldogs scored the first five points of overtime and went on to a 68-60 win at Creighton to post their 16th consecutive victory. Leonard Houston’s basket late in regulation sent the game to overtime after the Bulldogs trailed by eight in the second half.

Drake coach Keno Davis on his post game show on KRNT called it “an incredible game, and incredible effort by our guys…It seems like every time they surprise me with something else, with how gritty they play, with how this team has come together.”

Davis says he wanted his team to play like it had nothing to lose down the stretch, as he says they are a top 25 team, but no-one gave them a chance in a hostile environment. But Davis says if they play close with a chance to win down the stretch, he likes his team’s chances as much as anyone’s.

Sophomore guard Josh Young returned from an ankle injury to play 25 minutes. He finished with eight points and his three pointer opened the scoring in overtime and gave the Bulldogs the lead for good. Klayton Korver led Drake with 14 points as the Bulldogs improve to 17-1 overall and 8-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
