A 10-year-old southwest Iowa was shot during a hunting expedition Sunday afternoon. The 10-year-old boy from Villisca was hunting for rabbits with three others. He was shot in the thigh with a 22-caliber rifle at about four o’clock Sunday afternoon.

The boy was taken to a hospital in Red Oak, then transferred to one in Omaha. Authorities say the wound isn’t life-threatening. No word on who else was in the hunting party — and who shot the boy.
