ISU wins after losing key player

January 30, 2008 By admin

Iowa State outscored Colorado 42-19 in the second half as the Cyclones pulled away for a 57-41 Big 12 win in Ames on Tuesday night. The Cyclones played most of the game without leading scorer Wesley Johnson who left the game in the opening half after reinjuring a foot that kept him out the first four games of the season.

ISU coach Greg McDermott says it’s as proud as he’s been of a tam in a long time. He says the team stood around trying to figure out how to play with Johnson out of the lineup and finally realized he wasn’t going to play.

McDermott says Johnson is out indefinitely, as he stepped on someone’s foot and bent his foot backwards. He says they’ll know more in the next few days. The Cyclones improve to 3-3 in the Big 12 and 13-8 overall.
