Iowa women move into first place tie with win

February 1, 2008 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeye women moved into a share of the Big Ten Conference lead with a 70-55 win at Northwestern. It was the Hawkeyes’ fifth consecutive win. Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says it’s pretty crazy to think of where they’ve come from 2-3 and now are in a three-way tie for first place.

Iowa shot poorly in the opening half but still led 34-14 at the break. Bluder says the shots weren’t falling, but they maintained their defensive intensity. She says they rebounded better in the second half and only had 11 turnovers for the game.

The Hawks are now 7-3 in the Big Ten.
