Page County officials don’t suspect foul play in pickup death

February 4, 2008 By admin

Sheriff’s officials in southwest Iowa’s Page County say foul play is –not– suspected in the death of a person whose body was found early Saturday morning in a burned-out pickup truck.

Authorities say they received a call just after midnight Saturday regarding a pickup truck on fire in a ditch at 140th Street and B Avenue, just west of Essex. After firefighters extinguished the flames, a body was discovered in the vehicle and the State Fire Marshal’s office along with the Page County Medical Examiner were called in to investigate.

The body was brought to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Ankeny for positive identification. The incident remains under investigation and additional details are being withheld pending the autopsy and notification of relatives.
