A proposed settlement of a Touchplay machine lawsuit approved by the Iowa Lottery Board last month got state approval today. Bob Brammer, a spokesman for the Iowa Attorney General’s office, says the settlement is with a Cedar Rapids company.

Brammer says Camden Company had sued the State of Iowa and then the Iowa Lottery filed a counterclaim alleging that Camden had not paid everything it owed the lotter. Brammer says the A-G’s office negotiated a settlement. Brammer had said last month that Camden owed the Iowa Lottery nearly $500,000.

He says the state will pay Camden just over one million dollars and as part of the suit, the state will also pay Greater America Distributing $290,000. Brammer says the state has denied any wrongdoing, and the settlement acknowledges the denial of liability.

The state banned TouchPlay machines in May of 2006, after concerns that the games were too much like slot machines. The state has already reached settlements to pay Royal Financial $1.7 million, and B&B Games of Ankeny $388,000. There are still two Touchplay suits pending in Polk and Scott Counties.
