MVC Commissioner believes they’ll have mutiple teams in tournaments

February 7, 2008 By admin

Missouri Valley Conference commissioner Doug Elgin believes more than one team from the league will play in the NCAA Tournament even if Drake wins both the regular season and post season tournament titles. Elgin says they hope to see multiple teams in both the NCAA and NIT post-season tournaments for the men.

He says they have enough teams ranked highly that they think they have a chance to continue the streak of multiple teams in the tournaments. At 12-0 in the Valley and 21-1 overall the Bulldogs figure to have a good shot at heading to the "big dance" even if they don’t win the conference tournament in St. Louis.

However, their run has been so dominant the Valley may need another team to win the conference tournament to get a second team in. Elgin says more than ever there’s a spread of teams that has a chance to win the post-season tournament if they get hot.

The Bulldogs have a four-game lead in the conference race with six games remaining. They return to action Saturday night at home against Evansville.
