Drake coach never imagined this good a start

February 8, 2008 By admin

Drake coach Keno Davis admits he never imagined the Bulldogs would be in the position they are in right now. the 15th ranked Bulldogs are 21-1 over and 12-0 in the Missouri Valley race heading into tomorrow nights game at home against Evansville.

The Bulldogs have taken command of the Valley race and have a four game lead with six remaining. Davis says he thought the team could achieve more than people expected and he thought they had some good new players. But, he says that meant achieving more than the projected 9th place finish and having a team that was tough to play by the end of the season.

The key for the Bulldogs has been the combination of the play of point guard Adam Emmenecker combined with perimeter shooting. Davis says if there is one thing that’s made them effective is their three-point shooting ability. He says Emmenecker is not a three-point threat, but everyone else is, so that puts a lot of pressure on the defense to stop them.
