One person was killed in a crash in southwest Iowa Monday afternoon, while a second wreck involved a snowplow hitting a car. No names are being released at this time in regard to the two-vehicle fatal accident that occurred near the intersection of Highway 34 and Lark avenue, east of Creston, just after 3:30. There were also two injuries reported in the accident.

Another accident near Lorimor happened Monday morning just after ten o’clock. Gary Blazek of Prescott was driving a county snowplow west on the R-E-A Road. The state patrol report indicates that due to the high winds and drifting of snow, Blazek was caught in a white-out condition causing Blazek not to see the second vehicle, driven by Beverly Vance of Winterset, who was driving east.

Due to the roadway being drifted, the travel portion was decreased with the snow plow striking the driver’s side of the vehicle and peeling off the rear driver’s side door. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.
