Top-ranked Iowa City High takes on cross-town rival Iowa City West tonight in a Class 4A boys substate final game in Cedar Rapids. One fan who hopes City High advances to state is Iowa coach Todd Lickliter, whose son John is a senior on the team.

Lickliter says his team plays Penn State Wednesday and the’ll be heading to that game, so he says he hopes his son’s team wins and makes it to state. Lickliter says he has his fingers crossed because if the team doesn’t advance, then he will have missed his son’s last high school game. But Lickliter says the most important thing is that his son focuses on the game.

Lickliter says he doesn’t want his son to be concerned with him not being able to attend the game, as he says the focus is on trying to advance. Iowa City High comes into the game with a 21-1 record, while Iowa City West is 15-7.
