CR Wash downs defending 4A champs, 75-63

February 27, 2008 By admin

The Cedar Rapids Washington guard combination of Katelin Oney and Kaitlin Armstrong combined for 50 points and nine steals as the Warriors ousted defending 4A champion Sioux City North 75-63.

Oney finished with 27 points on 11-of-14 shooting and also hauled in ten rebounds. Oney says she was "feeling it" throughout the game and just let the momentum carry her through.

Sioux City North coach Kirk Walker says Wash did to them what they normally do to other people. He says they were 22 of 32 from the free throw line and his team was 11 of 16, and normally those roles are reversed. Walker says they forced too many turnovers and that hurt his team. Jalyssa Ceasar led the Stars with 17 points.
