Cedar Falls NU high advances to title in 1A

March 6, 2008 By admin

Cedar Falls NU High is headed to its first title game since 1989. The Panthers took command by outscoring HLV of Victor 70-51 in the second quarter in a 70-51 victory in a class 1A semifinal.

Senior Nick Ellerbroek says the Panthers played much better than they did in an opening round win over Bedford. Ellerbroek says they played really good defense and were able to get some early stops and get the offense going, which they didn’t do in the first game.

Ellerbroek led the Panthers in scoring with 20 points, but he says it feels better to win. He says he’d be mad if he scored 50 and they lost by 2. H-L-V coach Zach Tremmel says his team didn’t play well, but they ran into a better team and would have a tough time ever beating them.
