Buena Vista men head to Sweet Sixteen

March 11, 2008 By admin

The Buena Vista men travel to St. Louis this weekend for the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA division three tournament. The Beavers will take on 11th ranked and host Washington University on Friday night, a team that opened the season top ranked nationally.

Buena Vista coach Brian Van Haaften says they have a great basketball team and it will be a great task for his team. Van Haaften says Washington University has great basketball tradition, as they have been in the national tournament almost every year. Van Haaften hopes this year is his team’s year to win it.

Buena Vista has been a regular participant in the NCAA Tournament but a victory on Friday would send them to their first regional final. He says it does them that they’ve been there before and it’s their expectation to be there. The winner will meet either St. Mary’s of Maryland or Millsap in the Elite Eight.
