The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Department is releasing more details about fatal stabbing Thursday night. Sheriff Jeff Danker says deputies were called to a home in Neola, just after eight P-M, following a report of a disturbance and a man being stabbed.

Sheriff Danker says deputies cleared the scene so rescue crews could administer first aid and then discovered 40-year-old Craig Matthew Larsen, of Neola, who had been stabbed. The Sheriff says Larsen was treated at the scene and then transported by helicopter to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, where he died from his injuries.

Danker says following interviews with witnesses at the scene, they took one person into custody. He says they recovered a knife at the scene and arrested 20-year-old Todd Edwin Martens, who was a resident of the home, and charged him with murder in the second degree. The Sheriff says their investigation into the stabbing is on-going, as they have several witness left to interview.

He says they have a lot of information, but they details haven’t been nailed-down yet. He says also there are a lot of conflicting stories, so they’re conducting additional interviews to try and figure out what happened.
