The latest edition of the Iowa Transportation Map is now available. Mark Hansen, a transportation planner with the Iowa DOT, says the map contains more than 300 changes – including new roads in the southeast and northwest corners of the state."We added the new U.S. 63 bypass near Ottumwa and the new Iowa 60 bypass near Sibley," Hansen said. "We also added a reminder to drivers of the state law to move over or slow down for stopped emergency or maintenance vehicles."

The publication also highlights airports and rail lines, national historic trails and scenic byways, and a section listing Iowa’s cities and their populations. The maps are free to the traveling public. Hansen says the DOT prints about 1.8 million maps a year and they’re available at Iowa’s rest areas and welcome centers. They can also be found at driver’s license locations, DOT district offices, or viewed online at www.IowaDOTmaps.com. An Iowa "travel packet," which includes the map and a calendar of statewide events, is available through the website or by calling 800-345-IOWA (4692).
