Coe College baseball field prep includes chipping ice, snow blowing

March 25, 2008 By admin

For college baseball coaches this time of year is all about getting your field playable. That was the case at Coe College this past weekend where coach Steve Cook and his team did some unusual "spring cleaning" to play an Iowa Conference series against the University of Dubuque.

Cook says they chipped three inches of ice off the warning track and even used a snow blower to clear portions of the outfield. Cook says the theme is to do whatever you can to get ready to play and get some games in.

Cook says it was funny to see the team out there hauling away ice chunks in his pickup. He says you really have to put the time and to get ready after a long winter.
