The Internal Revenue Service plans to put in a little extra duty this weekend to help people sign up for their tax rebate from the economic stimulus package. I.R.S. spokesman, Christopher Miller, says some 320 I.R.S. offices will take part.

Miller says they’re calling it "Super Saturday" as they open up the offices to help those Americans eligible for a payment, but normally are not required to file an income tax return. Miller says three Iowa offices are set to be open. He says they’ll have special Saturday offices from nine until three p.m. Saturday in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Sioux City.

Miller says most people don’t have to do anything to get the stimulus payment, but file a tax return. He says others, like certain retirees, railroad employees and low-income individuals don’t normally file a tax return, and they will have to do that to get a refund. Miller says I.R.S. employees will offer a lot of help in the extra Saturday hours.

Miller says you can go to the I.R.S. website to find out about the offices with special hours and also to find out about free help in preparing your tax returns. The federal tax filing deadline is April 15th.
