Marshalltown man given probation for hiding illegal alien

A Marshalltown man will avoid jail time after pleading guilty to harboring an illegal alien. A district court judge sentenced Christopher Lamb to 12 months probation after Lamb pled guilty on Tuesday to hiding an illegal alien from Mexico who was an employee of the Swift and Company meatpacking plant in Marshalltown.

Lamb admitted to knowing the employee was a Mexican illegal and helping the employee avoid being found by hiding the illegal in a building at the Swift plant from June 3rd until June 25th of 2007. The judge also ordered Lamb to pay a $200 fine and $100 to the crime victim fund.

Lamb was arrested after an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement .
