U-I hopes pre-paid parking cuts congestion at football games

March 26, 2008 By admin

University of Iowa officials hope a new policy regarding parking will help alleviate some congesting around Kinnick Stadium on football game days. All season ticket holders will now have access to priority parking and must prepay in advance. Associate athletic director Paula Jantz says there will no longer be any financial transactions at parking entrances.

Jantz says parking has always been a challenge and this will help them determine the number of parking spots they need. She says it will also help streamline the process and hopefully cut back on the traffic congestion prior to the game.

Jantz says the new policy applies to U-I-managed parking lots only and will be available to all season ticket holders. She says there will be plenty of spaces available, but it doesn’t guarantee parking in a particular lot, but does give them a space.

Jantz says fans can purchase their parking pass when they order season tickets as the parking application is included in the ticket application. The Hawkeyes have seven home games during the 2008 season.
