Experience gained during a disappointing season has helped the Coe College baseball team this season. After finishing 17-22 overall last year the Kohawks are off to a 10-5 start as they get set for an Iowa Conference series at Loras this weekend.

Coe coach Steve Cook says that had a lot of kids who got a chance last year and that experience may be helping in close games. Cook says you have to find ways to win, whether it’s 10-9 or 2-1.

Cook says close games can be the difference between an average and a special season. He says two years ago when they went to the NCAA tournament, they knew it was the difference between five or six close games they won instead of losing.
