A Sumner man faces sexual assault charges for allegedly attacking a sleeping woman in her home Wednesday afternoon. The Fayette County Sheriff was called to the rural Sumner home around 1 p.m. where a woman and her two small children had been taking a nap.
A man had entered the home and sexually assaulted the woman. She woke up and confronted the man, who then fled the residence.
The suspect, 48-year-old James Buhr of Sumner was located at his home and arrested. Buhr is charged with first-degree burglary and third-degree sexual assault. The Sheriff noted the children in the house were not harmed and did not witness the crime.
