Clayton County warns of scam

April 1, 2008 By admin

Clayton County authorities are warning of a scam where the scammers claim to be from the Department of Transportation. Fraudulent letters are apparently being faxed to prospective contractors asking for financial information for the Iowa D.O.T.

The D.O.T. does not require financial information in order for a contractor to be eligible for procurement. If you do receive such a request by fax or mail, authorities say do not complete the form or give out the requested information. Instead, contact local law enforcement or the Iowa D.O.T. Office of the Inspector General.
