Man dies after fight near Rutland

Law officers are looking into a fatal weekend fight in north-central Iowa. Humboldt County authorities are investigating the death of a Dakota City man early Saturday morning. Forty-one-year-old Michael Lee Ruberg was transported to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

According to investigators, witnesses report Ruberg was involved in an altercation with a subject near a Rutland residence. An autopsy on Ruberg was scheduled to be performed Sunday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, the County Attorney and the State Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the death of Ruberg.
