Morningside baseball coach Jim Scholten is hoping the weather warms up as well as the Mustang’s bats. Morningside is 6-6 in the Great Plains Conference and 14-11 overall. Scholten says while the pitching staff has held them in games the Mustangs need to score more runs. He’s hoping a change in the weather can get them into a groove.

Scholten says the other factor is being able to get some quality practices in as he says they’ve only been able to get out onto the field twice. He says practicing indoors is just not the same.

It has been a roller coast season for the Mustangs who snapped a six game losing skid with a doubleheader sweep of Dakota Wesleyan over the weekend. Scholten says they’ve found that some pitchers match up better with some teams and not as well with others. Morningside returns to action on Tuesday against Mount Marty.
