Another pedestrian struck by bus in Des Moines

April 16, 2008 By admin

Another pedestrian was hit by a bus today in the state’s capital city. Des Moines police say a 26-year-old woman, Tiffany Schmit, was struck while walking across an intersection in the downtown area. Police say Schmit had minor injuries and did not need to be taken to the hospital.

The driver of the bus, Darryl Smith of Des Moines, was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. This is the fourth bus/pedestrian accident involving a Des Moines bus in the last 10 months. A driver that struck a pedestrian in March was later fired.
