Body of Wisconsin man recovered from Mississippi River

April 16, 2008 By admin

Authorities have recovered the body of a man who may’ve committed suicide by jumping off a Mississippi River Bridge in Dubuque. The body of 69-year-old David Kieffer of Hazel Green, Wisconsin was found Tuesday evening by someone who was walking along the Mississippi River Bank in Bellvue, which is 20 miles downriver from Dubuque.

The exact cause of death is still under investigation, and Kieffer’s body will be transferred to the state medical examiner’s office in Ankeny for toxicology tests. Kieffer’s car was found abandoned on April 3rd on the Julien Dubuque Bridge in Dubuque with the engine running. A bloodhound brought to the scene indicated the occupant of the car got out and walked to the side of the bridge, where the trail ended.
