Man pleads not guilty in death of Dakota City man

April 22, 2008 By admin

The man accused of killing a Dakota City man in a fight earlier this month entered a plea of not guilty on Monday. Twenty-year-old William Shekey entered a written plea of not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder in Humboldt County District Court at Dakota City.

Shekey is accused of killing 41-year-old Michael Ruberg in a fight in Rutland on April Fifth. Witnesses told investigators Shekey and Ruberg were involved in a fight. Authorities were called to the scene shortly before four in the morning and found Ruberg unresponsive in the street.

Ruberg was pronounced dead at the Humboldt County Hospital. Shekey was arrested by Humboldt County authorities on April 11th. No trial date has yet been set.
