Heavy rains cause flooding in Northeast Iowa

April 25, 2008 By admin

Severe thunderstorms dumped up to four inches of rain on parts of Iowa overnight, bringing flash flooding early today, trapping some northeast Iowans in their homes and cars in fast-rising water.

Cedar Falls police and U.N.I. public safety rescued up to a dozen people between three and five o’clock this morning. Rivers and creeks are rising after heavy rain overnight, flooding many streets in the Cedar Falls area.

Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for several eastern Iowa counties, with cities including Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Vinton and Sigourney.
