Three children died in a house fire in northern Iowa this morning. Floyd County Sheriff Rick Lynch is not doing interviews on the fire, but issued a news release saying firefighters were called to the home in Marble Rock about six o’clock this morning.

Firefighters learned four children were still in the home and were able to rescue one, 12-year-old Andrew Heideman from a second story window. Heideman was taken to the Floyd County Medical Center and then transferred to Iowa City. His condition was not released. Three other children, six-year-old Abby Sutter, three-year-old Jacob Legg and 20-month-old Jesselyn Legg were found in the home, but later died.

The sheriff’s news release says autopsies will be conducted on the bodies of the children, and the cause of the fire is still undetermined. The parents of the children are Tim and Heather Legg, Bruce Heideman and Justin Frana.
