Twisters may’ve touched down near Dows, Alden

Damage is being assessed in north-central Iowa after possible twisters on Thursday night. Severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings were posted for portions of Hamilton, Wright, Franklin and Hardin counties. Reports of possible funnel clouds were sighted near the towns of Dows and Alden.

There was a report of structural damage to farms north of the Hamilton County community of Blairsburg. In Webster City, a flash flood warning was issued for the Boone River. As of this morning, the Boone was measured at 8.4 feet with the river expected to reach 13.5 feet by Sunday before it returns below flood stage. Flood stage is at 12 feet. Minor flooding is expected due to over two-inches of rain recorded in Webster City last night.
