An argument over miniature golf has brought major repercussions, including the resignation of the mayor of a northern Iowa city. Algona Mayor Lynn Kueck has resigned apparently over a disagreement with members of the Algona City Council over the purchase of a miniature golf course.

At a recent City Council meeting, the council ended up deadlocked over the idea of purchasing the miniature golf course for $50,000 and the motion died. Kueck had been in office 11 years and had just started his 5th term. City staff is asking the council to appoint a new mayor by June 9th.
